Act Like It’s the First Time
We are wrapping up the COVID part of our lives and starting to get back to normal. Even though we are still having some ups and downs until we are over it, people are smiling, dancing and out and about for the first time in quite some time.
As you resume many activities for the firs time in a long time, consciously examine how you do what you do. Is it time todo anything differently?
For example. One of the first times our coffeeshop opened up, I made a practice to ask the people I frequently talk to ( but don’t know that well) what their names are so that I could call them by name.
In many cases my wife and I have met some great friends, just because we reached out.
Here’s another example: When something really upsets you (such as a customer service situation) why not give the person the benefit of the doubt and consider they may be having a rough day. A smile and a “no worries” approach could be the thing that helps them start to treat people better.
What firsts do you encounter that you might decide to do differently so you get better results?
