Follow Your Own Footsteps
Each Monday I head to the beach so that I can do a beach run and plan the upcoming week. It’s turned out to be a wonderful time to reflect and think creatively about how I will approach that week.
Of course, before I do my mental planning I notice the many things happening at the beach-- the bright sun, the sound of the ocean waves, children making sand castles, people making cell phone calls, and attendants getting wave runners ready to go out into the gulf.
There is something else I notice. I notice the footprints in the sand. Sometimes I look at my own footprints by turning around to see where I have been.
I notice that no two footprints are the same. Once you know what your footprint looks like you can see the marks that it made in the sand.
What type of mark are you leaving? Is it your own?
We learn many things from people from our past, but after we learn these things, we have to try it our own way and leave our distinct marks.
Hopefully you are putting some thought into the marks you leave AND realizing that what you say, do, and achieve will be unique from anyone else. That’s the beauty of doing what you do.
