Recreate Your Job, Your Life or Yourself

I was listening to Elin Hilderbrand talk about her latest novel. The interviewer spent some time talking about the career of a writer and what that was like to consistently come up with new ideas for the books that she’s written.

Her response was very interesting. She said:

“I do the same things every year completely different.”

I wasn’t expecting the last two words on that sentence, but I think it is a great challenge for everyone, not matter what their walk in life.

How exciting is a life where we may be in the same career or the same job for a length of time, yet we always approach the new year by doing things differently.

Imagine how knowledgeable we would be and the happiness we would feel by not having a pent-in feeling when we challenge ourselves to do things differently, it keeps us very sharp.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO RECREATE YOURSELF

I’ve listed five numbers below. Each one represents a year. Start with next year and work your way back.

List one big thing you did differently each year and see if you are changing things up. I had you put in next year by #5 so that you can be thinking ahead to what you want to change up for next year.

If you find yourself “stuck” with this exercise, to might be time to change things up. See me if I can help you with recreating the life you want to live.
