Where Others See Obstacles, We See Opportunities

General

This is a quote from Tony Leo of the First Home Bank in Seminole, Florida. It was from an article in the Business Observer, a business publication in southern Florida.

This blog headline is easy to say, but not always easy to implement. We tend to see the negative instead of the positive. Through conditioning, though we can change that behavior, which will help our team members change the way they approach these situations.

A broad example of this would be taking all of the customer requests we receive to carry certain products we don’t have or services we don’t provide and start to carry them. The obstacle of not being able to sell something because we don’t have it is now an opportunity, since we’ll make a profit on what they want to buy.

ACTION STEPS FOR THIS WEEK

  1. Have each member of your team list all of the obstacles they can think of.
  2. For each one, decide what the opportunity could be.
  3. Assign the items that can be done immediately to someone on the team.
  4. Circle the items that need more research and figure out if there’s a way to take advantage of the opportunity.
